It’s a banner year for celebration as the Faculty of Medicine marks its 125th anniversary, CEPD celebrates 30 years and we reflect back on the 2011-2012 academic year with a sense of satisfaction and pride for the goals we have collectively accomplished.

Building on the theme of Integration, Innovation and Impact, we continue to stand strong as one of Canada’s greatest concentrations of health professions expertise, scholars and educators as demonstrated by the multitude of activities, events and research initiatives presented across all departments in this report. Working together, we provide international leadership in improving health through innovation in continuing education and research.

We are entering a period of transformation with greater emphasis placed on peer-to-peer information sharing and a team approach to learning. With the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO) promoting “self-regulation” as the best model for medical governance in Ontario, it is the ideal time for CEPD and our Faculty to raise the bar even further. We must make continuous efforts to improve learning experiences and medical education in our disciplines, positioning ourselves as the foremost leaders and partners in transforming health care and institution of choice for professional certification, licensing requirements and life-long pursuit of continuing education and professional development.

Thank you to everyone who contributed to this year’s annual report and for your ongoing support of CEPD initiatives. We wish you much success in all of your academic pursuits and personal endeavours over the coming year.

Together we can effect change and embrace new challenges.
